Here we have what people consider the two best smartphones coming to the Android market: the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation. We’ll run through the specs and see who’s the winner of these two powerhouse.

Samsung Galaxy S2 vs HTC Sensation

Starting off with the processors, both the Samsung Galaxy S2 and HTC Sensation carries a more than capable CPU. Both running at 1.2GHz and the main advantages the HTC Sensation has is dual LED flash and higher¬†resolution¬†(540×960) while the Samsung Galaxy S2 has only one LED and at 480×800 resolution. The Samsung Galaxy S2 comes out on top for benchmark score against the HTC Sensation by quite a bit as revealed by the video review below.

HTC Sensation is a close competitor, but when compared to the Samsung Galaxy S2 spec for spec, the Galaxy S2 still slightly on top but not much. Briefly running through the specs, the Samsung Galaxy S2 packs 1GB RAM while the Sensation only has 768MB RAM. On to storage, Galaxy s2 has options for 16GB and 32GB internal storage and the Sensation with only 1GB.

Further more, a Super AMOLED display and 2MP front¬†camera¬†for the Samsung versus a S-LCD Display and 1.2MP front camera for HTC (both androids have 8MP rear camera). Moving on, battery being a concern for many users, the Samsung Galaxy S2 has a bigger battery at 1650 mAh vs HTC Sensation’s 1520 mAh, not only that the Galaxy S2 is lighter at 4.1¬†ounces¬†vs 5.2 ounces, and finally to top it off the Samsung Galaxy S2 supports NFC.

Both smartphones come installed with Android 2.3 Gingerbread (HTC Sense for the Sensation and TouchWiz for the Galaxy S2). The Samsung Galaxy S2 is expected to release May 1st for UK and over the span of the next few months for the rest of the countries as they slowly roll them out. The HTC Sensation 4G is expected to be released on June 15 exclusively to T-Mobile.

All in all, both androids are great choices, most of the features and such comes down to personal preferences. You can’t go wrong with either choices as they are both superior smartphones in the market today and definitely the best money can buy!

Phones are ALL about the software inside them. USER INTERFACE MEANS NOTHING! If your not rooted and using custom roms your stock UI is not looking the way you want it too, also not performing as well as it can. Gs2 is clearly the better phone. Yeah the stock widgets look great on HTC….. um CUSTOM ROM your phone. Why have a android if your not going to root. Want a great phone out of box iphone4 soon iphone5 will kick all these phones a$$ stock. A rooted SG2with flashed roms cant be beat IMO.

I prefer the body of Samsung to HTC BECAUSE EVERYBODY USES PROTECTIVE CASES! HTC looks and feels great. But if you want to put a case on it it (of course you do) gets bulky and feels to heavy. Vibrant feels just right when you put a protective case on it. I wish all phones devs will just make there phones lite as possible. Its the way it should be I don’t get why people don’t understand that.

If you like HTC over the superior GS2 more power to you. Ignorance is bliss, I assume.

IPhone sucks. Why is that much better IOS than Android? IPhone 4 has a VERY small display (3.5 in. what can you do with 3.5 in?)compared to it’s screen resolution and it has 1000 mhz when other phones have dual core cpus. And why does it cost twice as much?
hack protection? why would you want that? and it WAS hacked.
more stable? i don’t think so.
good looking os or phone? i wouldn’t spent twice the money for that.
so? what makes so good? it’s because it’s from apple?

I agree that the Samsung GS2 is the superior device but your “review” was so biased against the HTC Sensation it almost made me laugh…it was that obvious. The Sensation has a pretty cool UI which you didn’t show to full advantage and it is faster than the GS2… period. The GS2 has far better display and is thinner, lighter and slicker.

Jay June 26, 2011 at 4:51 pm

Ignorance is Bliss? Well the fact remains that the SSGS2 Might edge out a TINY bit over the Sensation, but the SENSATION is AVAILABLE, and the SSGS2?! Who the F**k knows WHEN it will be here, and no one cares to let the world know, so that’s the First reason the Sensation is BETTER, It’s HERE!!!! @nd, HTC is MUCH better at updating their phones, so while the world waits and waits and waits and waits for the SSGS2 to even arrive, HTC is already thinking about updating their already AVAILABLE phone! Once, if ever, people get to actually buy the SSGS2, i assure you, they will once again wait… and wait…. and wait….. and wait…….. for any kind of updates!!!! Ignorance IS Bliss.

Sean June 27, 2011 at 6:58 pm

you mention that the Samsung offers 2 x models 1 x 16GB and 1 x 32GB and that the HTC only offers 1GB…. the HTC has an expansion slot!!!!

Jonathan June 28, 2011 at 10:58 am

Hey sean, galaxy s2 is also using expansion slot. So is 16GB plus 32GB or 32 GB plus 32GB

Jonathan June 28, 2011 at 11:12 am

Here is my point of view… Yes it maybe true that GS2 maybe superior but HTC of course have their HTC sense which i love… Sensation is more stylish compared to GS2 exterior part.. But for me i will get GS2 why? I am alittle bit stingy.. My country selling GS2 for USD686.5 while sensation is USD 751.92. Used the converter xD. I like the colour shown by GS2 compare to Sensation (SORRY ><)
To me regardless which one is user preferences… I wanna get Sensation but i wanna save abit of money so i chose GS2

Jonathan June 28, 2011 at 11:16 am

If i have time i will write more but I going to sleep now tata xD

HTC Sensation(HTC) : Samsung Galaxy II S(SGS2)
HTC offers better and brighter view when face 2 face interface, but when side angle, lose…that’s where Amoled advantages are….
HTC offers better performancec than SGS2, that’s for sure….
HTC had better interface for definitely(HTC Sense vs. Touchwiz)
SGS2 had better battery life than HTC…
Audio wise SGS2 better but in video recording, HTC wins…
Camera wise, i think is draw…..
Thinking of getting HTC instead of SGS2….i m more to performance and user interface, while camera and video recording too…battery is not something i mind about..

Elvin July 5, 2011 at 4:06 pm

I agree…when my previous android phone : SG5 wanna update to official rom of 2.2, it took me 3 months to wait, in order to get the official 2.2 from 2.1

Azhar July 22, 2011 at 3:20 am

I’ve used both. HTC Sense UI beats Samsung TouchWiz hands down. Surfing is way better with HTC which is what I do most on the phone and I believe a lot of people as well.

And Brian, not everyone buys a phone just to root it. It’s like buying a cpu and overclocking it. For what? Just to brag and post the benchmark online? If I want a fast cpu, I’ll buy one. Same goes for phone.

dreams July 25, 2011 at 10:00 pm

except ui and build quality sgs2 beats sensation in every department from display to camera to memory..its much faster and smoother than sensation..and y u want a high end android phone if u dont like custom roms ;in this department too sgs2 is better than sensation.

bryanxtian July 27, 2011 at 6:16 am

For more deeper approach Adreno 220 which the sensation has is the best GPU at the moment. surpassing tegra 2 and mali400. but this superamoled is just overwhelming.

Cian July 28, 2011 at 7:03 pm

Love my Desire but lots of apps can only be saved on the phone memory and can’t be migrated to the SD card- phone gets full and can’t download apps, or at least have to move them around/delete for space and really annoyingly have to delete text messages- all this while my SD card has about 10gb free! Stupid. There is a way to crack the software but it invalidates the warranty etc.

Anyone familiar with what I am talking about? Any idea if this has been addressed on the sensation?

Love the Super Amoled on the GS2 but my preference is for the build feel, sense ui, browsing etc on the HTC…

Would really appreciate feedback from someone in the know.

Ajay August 5, 2011 at 3:41 am

AJIT August 14, 2011 at 11:45 am

samsung is best brand & HTC have nothing any skop in Maharashtra…….so samsung is the BeSt.

KERRY August 18, 2011 at 8:35 am

Ive got the HTC Sensation,
When I came to decide upon the 2x Questioned
Handsets I went for Quality and best userface.

Samsung Galaxy 2 is nice but its too big,
Feels plasticy and very awkward to use.

The Phone only has better display to show for
Itself but for me HTC won hands down.

buyer August 18, 2011 at 4:18 pm

for me htc sensation is better by its design. if sensation what will i buy?ts verry smoth it will not easily fall down from your hand while sgs2 is like old fasion normal plastik. it sucks. because i want the system of sgs2 and i want the style of sensation what will i buy????

Jonathan jones September 5, 2011 at 9:09 am

I have both phones And iPhone 4 ,prefer the htc out of the 3 because the interface is better. You can get a 1900 ma bat for ¬£ 10 htc . Samsung has better screen but you would only notice if put side by side. Gps isnt good on the samsung and keyboard isn’t good as htc. iPhone is good but screen is to small for my eyes.

Vl October 10, 2011 at 12:33 pm

I am not sure where you are (but I assume some where in Europe judging by your reference to (£) )
but I do not know why you say the GPS is not good on sensation.
I have had this phone for 2 month now, and use GPS almost every other day.
works Great. are you using Google Maps? then that maybe your problem..

try iGO or Sygic and then tell my GPS bad :-D

Chervin Lavilla September 22, 2011 at 5:06 pm

HTC Sensation is sexy and beautiful and therefore a winner. Unless you want to declare the ugly a winner..It is all up to you!
